Hiring a Web Designer is a bit like playing freeze-tag with Alice-in- Wonderland; then twister and water-wiggle with the Mad Hatter; and finally, falling through the rabbit whole and erupting through the looking-glass to find the Queen of Hearts waiting for you beneath the Cheshire Cat's famous grin and pointing a frosting-smeared finger at an absolutely fabulous, amazing, impossibly beautiful cake that has your name on it. Plus dot-com. The reason for this is that you may know exactly what you want, you may have sort of an inkling of what you want, or you may not have the foggiest idea what you want. Duh, no kidding. The thing is, you may say, for instance, that you want a piece of notebook paper. Fine. Good. We both know exactly what that means. You would not have to tell me you want a piece of 5 lbs. paper, 81/2" by 11" inches, with perfectly straight edges, a 1 1/2" margin on the top, a 1 1/4" margin on the left with a thin (3px) line on the right edge, and 32 light blue thin lines spaced evenly below the top margin evenly spaced 1/4" apart and not overlapping the left margin, with 3 holes in the left margin placed exactly so. See what I'm getting at... We do not have to specify these details (unless, I suppose, we are from different countries; I don't know if French notebook paper is the same as American notebook paper). But with web pages we do. So your web designer has a passel of questions designed to inform her of exactly what you have in mind and in how much detail you have imagined your web page. Don't worry; your web designer knows that if you knew what all the details were in the first place you would not be hiring her. Web Preferences Questionnaire Your web designer's biggest task is to get the details of the website you're imagining from your mind to hers OR to help you clearly envision and plan your website. So, you will be asked to assemble a file of preferences and answer important questions. This will be your task. Lovely Jones will do the rest.
